Investigating Global Practices in Teaching English to Young Learners is a recently completed project sponsored by the British Council. CLERA researchers Professor Anne Burns, Dr Fiona Copland and Dr Sue Garton (PI) worked on the project which comprised a global survey of teachers of young learners and case studies of five primary classrooms in five different continents. The report is available on-line and provides a literature review of the field teaching English to young learners, details of the research methodology, findings and discussion. Data in the form of tables are also available in the report, which can be found here.
Following on from this project, Fiona and Sue, again with British Council support, collected together activities for teaching young learners from teachers around the world. The product, a resource book called ‘Crazy Animals and Other Activities for Teaching English to Young Learners’ is freely available to read or download here.
